Karl Cole-Frieman

Karl Cole-Frieman serves as Of Counsel to HBA, specializing in the representation of hedge fund managers.

Mr. Cole-Frieman was previously General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Standard Pacific Capital, LLC, an SEC-registered hedge fund manager in San Francisco with offices in New York, Hong Kong, and a sub-advisor in Tokyo. In addition to managing the Legal and Compliance Departments at Standard Pacific, Mr. Cole-Frieman was also responsible for human resources, IT, and general administration, as well as operations and strategic matters for Standard Pacific's Credit strategy.

Before joining Standard Pacific, Mr. Cole-Frieman was an Associate General Counsel at Sagamore Hill Capital Management, L.P., a multi-strategy hedge fund manager in Greenwich, Ct, with an office in London. He has also served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he was lead counsel for Loan Trading and Distressed Debt and supported the M&A, Corporate Finance and Private Equity Groups.

Mr. Cole-Frieman a founding partner of Cole-Frieman Mallon & Hunt LLP, a San Francisco based law firm specializing in hedge funds and alternative mutual funds.

Mr. Cole-Frieman began his career in 1997 as an Associate in the Litigation Department of Shearman & Sterling.

Mr. Cole-Frieman is admitted to practice in New York and California.
